The Latinos, Faith, Culture, HIV & Mental Health Conference

The Latinos, Faith, Culture, HIV & Mental Health Conference is hosted for faith leaders and congregants. The conferences are held annually at the California Endowment, located at 1000 N Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. It is attended by approximately over 300 faith leaders and participants every year. The purpose of the Conference is to inspire a discussion about HIV/AIDS among California faith leaders and empower them to take a more active role in the fight against this devastating disease. Faith, mental health, substance abuse and Latino culture are also among the topics discussed with participants.

The conference has created a tremendous amount of awareness regarding our cause and enabled our organization to expand its visibility to other generous members of the Los Angeles faith community.   We hope to further our mission of educating the community about HIV/AIDS. Because of their longevity and trust in the community, faith leaders who attend this type of conferences can create and sustain a dialogue for preventive health.

Since 2007, the Conference provides free HIV testing, educational workshops and plenary sessions by respected professionals. The conference provides speakers from faith institutions, academia, and congregants to explore the obstacles to the stigma and silence that contribute to HIV/AIDS.  We hope to continue the conversation that helps eradicate the ignorance that surrounds those issues and provide participants with strategies on how to deal with these issues.

The Wall-Las Memorias Project will host the 4th Annual Conference on Latinos, Faith, Culture, HIV, and Mental Health on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at The California Endowment. This community event is FREE and breakfast and lunch will be provided.
